Frameless folding and sliding glass doors
Panels of tempered glass held in slim aluminium rails at the top and bottom, with no vertical frame between them. They fold and slide along a track and can be parked to one side, giving an almost all-glass enclosure.
Where frameless panels make sense
Frameless systems are chosen for balcony enclosures, glass rooms, covered terraces, shop fronts and internal partitions where the look of clear glass matters and the enclosure is sheltered. Because there are no vertical frames, the panels meet glass to glass with small gaps or polycarbonate seals; this gives an open feel but does not provide the weather, dust or acoustic performance of a framed folding or sliding door.
What to know before choosing
- Tempered glass is required; thickness is set by panel size and the system.
- Sealing between panels is limited: expect some air and dust movement and do not rely on them for a fully air-conditioned, sealed room.
- Panels are parked to one side when open, so wall space is needed, as with framed folding doors.
- Top-hung or bottom-rolling designs are available; the structure above must carry a top-hung system.

What affects the price of a folding or sliding door?
Size, number of panels, the system (standard or slim, thermal break or not), the glass build-up, the finish, the threshold type, access to the site and removal of existing doors. How do I get a quotation?

How much maintenance do aluminium doors need?
Little, provided the tracks are kept free of sand. Vacuum or brush the bottom track regularly, wipe the frames with mild soapy water, and have the rollers, hinges and seals checked periodically. Avoid abrasive cleaners on powder-coated surfaces.
Is there a warranty?
Warranty terms for the frames, finish, glass and hardware are stated on each quotation and handover document, because they depend on the system and components supplied. Ask for them before you place an order.
