Aluminium pivot doors
A pivot door turns on a pin set into the floor and the head rather than on side hinges, so the leaf can be wider and heavier than a hinged door and sits as a flat plane in the facade when closed.
Design options
- Infill — fully glazed, solid aluminium panel, or glass with a solid section; solid leaves can be finished in powder coat or wood-effect finishes.
- Pivot position — offset pivots leave a wider walk-through; a centre pivot splits the leaf symmetrically.
- Hardware — hydraulic floor springs or self-closing pivots, multi-point locks, long pull handles, and optional electronic access.
- Side lights — fixed glazed panels alongside the door to widen the composition.
What to consider
A pivot door's weight sits on the floor pivot, so the floor construction at the threshold and the head fixing need to be confirmed during the site visit. Larger leaves need a closer with adequate capacity for wind at an exposed entrance. The leaf size and weight limits depend on the system and are stated on the quotation.
The main cost factors are leaf size, infill, hardware (closer, locking, access control), finish and the condition of the existing opening.

How much maintenance do aluminium doors need?

Is there a warranty?
Warranty terms for the frames, finish, glass and hardware are stated on each quotation and handover document, because they depend on the system and components supplied. Ask for them before you place an order.
